Carnival 7’s Tournament

The focus of the tournament is on the development of teams and officials in rugby. Apart for the playing
of games, on the days prior to the tournament participants toured the island various sites downtown,
mineral falls, waterfalls, beaches and ventured into the famous nightlife “Gros Islet Street Party”.

The Carnival 7’s was the brain child of Kennard Monrose and Roger Butcher. The Saint Lucia Rugby Football was known as the St. Lucia Hawks. After participating in the LIAT 7s in 1994 in Trinidad and Tobago. Kennard Monrose and Roger Butcher formulated the idea to hold a rugby tournament on the weekend before St. Lucian Carnival.

The Saint Lucia Rugby Football Union “Caribcation Carnival 7s” is now a signature event on the Saint Lucia Rugby Calendar and the Sports Tourism Calendar and promises to be bigger and better in 2024
with additional cultural and tournament surprises.
